Profile

Lucy Peace Nantume is a lawyer and human rights practitioner with 14 years of professional experience. She is a Programme Manager at Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), Uganda and South Sudan where she steers the special initiative on migration and forced displacement. Before KAS, Lucy was a program Manager at the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF), where she managed grants and supported institutions (state and non-state) to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate projects aimed at strengthening governance, promoting and protecting human rights, enhancing access to justice, and improving accountability in Uganda.

Prior to that, she worked with Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI). She managed and implemented various projects that included legal aid provision, legal empowerment, civic education, research, documentation and advocacy. She was also a member of the steering committee of the World congress against the death penalty under which she made advocacy for the abolition of the death penalty. She also serves as the vice president of the FIDA Uganda Board.

Lucy holds a Master of laws degree from the University of Dar es salaam, a Post graduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development centre and a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University.  She aims at impacting positively the lives of all who encounter her both professionally and personally.
