Perry Aritua is a lawyer and women’s rights activist. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Women’s Democracy Network – Uganda Chapter. Perry also serves on the board of Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET) where she represents the Uganda Association of Women Lawyers (FIDA-U) and serves as the Vice-Chairperson of UWONET. She trains aspiring women candidates for Member of Parliament and Local Council positions and some have been elected as a result of the capacity building both within and outside Uganda. Ms. Aritua has also worked with women leagues of political parties, monitored elections and undertaken various initiatives aimed at defending and advocating for women’s rights, gender equality and good governance in Uganda.
